Seven Reasons To Seek First The Kingdom Of God And His Righteousness

Do you wonder why it's so important to seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness? Truly, the Lord is the God of purpose. And He wouldn't ask us to do a thing if it's not for a good cause. Even so, this instruction of God is for good. Therefore, in this post reasons to seek the kingdom of God and His righteousness are given.

Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you - Matthew 6:31-33 (NKJV).

Introduction

The commandments of the Lord are not grievous instructions. For the thoughts of God for us are not evil but good, to give us a future and a hope. And it's obedience to His instructions that leads us to that great future and hope He has for us. However, we're creatures of choice and can decide what to do and when to do it. So, to help us make the right choices, Christ instructed us to first seek the kingdom of God and His righteousness before any other thing. This will eventually help us to better prioritize the other things in our lives. So what else do you gain seeking God's kingdom first?

Reasons To Seek First The Kingdom Of God And His Righteousness

1. Easy access to your heart desires in Christ.

Many are busy struggling to meet their needs, and in the process, they hurt people and many times themselves. Yet, there is a better and easier way to meet these needs without hurting anyone. This was what Christ offered to us through the instruction given in Matthew 6:33. As such, as you focus on doing the will of the Lord, God ensures that you lack nothing good. Truly, He knows that you have a need for these things and knows exactly how to get them across to you. This He will do without stress. For everything was created by Him and is under His command. So, He has no problem providing for you when you mind His kingdom.

2. Anxiety free life

You can't focus on the Lord and still be anxious. This is because your faith in God and His ability to provide and take care of you is built up. And faith and anxiety don't go together; you can only manifest one at a time. Also, the Prince of peace will keep you in perfect peace as you mind His kingdom. Read more...

Why Be A Doer And Not Just A Hearer Of The Word Of God

Are you a true Christian? A true Christian is known by his or her fruits, i.e., the behavior that the person exhibits. Every child of God is known by his thoughts, words, and especially his actions. So, you're expected to be a doer and not just a hearer of God's words. This post gives the reasons why you should be a doer of God's word.

But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves - James 1:22 (NKJV).

Therefore by their fruits you will know them - Matthew 7:20 (NKJV).

Introduction

It's one thing to hear the word of God and another thing do it. However, it's in the doing that you benefit from the word. And a person who only hears deceives himself or herself. Again, anyone who is not a doer of the word of God is not yet a believer in Christ. For you can't believe and not do the words of the Lord.

Why Be A Doer And Not Just A Hearer?

1. Shows that you believe the word of God

You will know that you believe the word if you obey it. This is because when you don't believe it's difficult to act on what you have heard. On the other hand, if you believe, you will not find it difficult to do the word of God.

2. Grow to eat meat

Milk is the food for babes, while the meat is for those who are matured. And you only graduate to meat as you use the word of God. That is, doing the instructions of the Lord helps you to grow into eating meat. This is because as you act on God's word and see the results, your faith increases to act on more of the word.

For everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe. But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil - Hebrews 5:13-14 (NKJV).

Is Gaining The World And Losing Your Soul Worth It?

What shall it profit you if you gain the whole world and lose your soul? Every action, thought or word of yours determines the line you are towing. And your time on earth is too short to make wrong choices. This post encourages you to focus on gaining your soul.

For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? - Matthew 16:26 (NKJV).

Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live.” - John 11:25 (NKJV).

And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment - Hebrews 9:27 (NKJV).

Your soul is more important than the gains of this world and so needs adequate attention. This is because it lives on even after death (John 11:25). It spends eternity either with God (which is God's will) or with the devil. And you ultimately decide where it goes by the things you do here on earth.

The Dilemma

Many people live in this world as if their lives end here. So, they chase after money by all means and fight with all they have for power. They do this even to the point of stealing, killing or destroying others just like the devil whose mission is to kill, steal and destroy (John 10:10). Unfortunately, these acts are outright consent to spend eternity with the devil.

God's Will

It is not the will of God that any should perish (2 Peter 3:9) but that all should have eternal life. This He showed by giving His only begotten son that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16). And Christ has paid the entire price that you may spend eternity with God. Read more...

One Thing To Be Mindful Of As You Mind Other Things

What is the most important thing in your life? This determines what you do daily and what you mind daily in life. Many people mind more what profits them more. However, there is one thing to be mindful of as you mind other things. This post is aimed at revealing this one thing, which gives the highest profit ever.

For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him the Son of Man also will be ashamed when He comes in the glory of His Father with the holy angels - Mark 8:36-38 (NKJV).

While on earth, we need to mind so many things: our families, jobs, businesses, health, friends, etc. These are all very important. However, what we value most determines what we mind more. We tend to spend more time on this thing compared to others. Many people spend more time trying to make themselves comfortable on earth. This is good but it shouldn’t be at the detriment of our comfort after this life.

Surely there is life after this life (Matthew 25:46), and this second life is forever. Therefore, being mindful of only things that pertain to life on earth is not wisdom. This is because the number of years you may live on earth is merely like a drop of water compared to eternity wherever you end up after death, heaven or hell. You prepare for where you will be after now while on earth.

So, as you mind the things that will enable you to enjoy your life here on earth, ensure you also mind this one important thing: your relationship with Christ. Every other thing is secondary. Your relationship with Christ determines what comes to you now and after death. Surely, we will all leave this earth one day. It is wisdom to be more mindful of the life after now. Read more...

Holy Communion-The Wisdom Of God For Total Health Spirit, Soul And Body

What is Holy Communion to you? Your understanding of what it is and its benefits will determine the place you will give it in your life. It is more than small bread and drink taken in the churches. It is the wisdom of God for your total health spirit, soul and body. This post gives you a better understanding of the importance of Holy Communion to a believer.

Then Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in you. Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day. For My flesh is food indeed, and My blood is drink indeed. He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood abides in Me, and I in him – (John 6:53-56 NKJV).

For it is the life of all flesh. Its blood sustains its life. Therefore I said to the children of Israel, ‘You shall not eat the blood of any flesh, for the life of all flesh is its blood. Whoever eats it shall be cut off’ – Leviticus 17:14 (NKJV).

The Holy Communion is a spiritual mystery that, when taken with understanding and faith, causes one to live above the natural realm.

What is Holy Communion?
It is bread and drink taken as the flesh and the blood of Jesus respectively. It was instituted by Jesus Christ Himself and was also encouraged by Him to be taken in remembrance of Him (Luke 22:19, I Corinthians 11:24-25). It is the new covenant in Christ’s blood, which was shed for all (Luke 22:20). It is the life of Jesus, the life of all flesh is its blood (Leviticus 17:14). It is fellowship with Christ in His flesh and blood. It is the wisdom of God through which we enjoy the life of Jesus in us. It can be taken as often as you want, the disciples were taking it daily (Acts 2:46). Read more...

Money Is Not All In Life, God Is All In All!

What place does money have in your life? Does it dictate your peace, joy and how you walk in love? God desires that you prosper but not at the expense of His relationship with you and the work He has for you. Money is not everything; it is God who is all in all.

Command those who are rich in this present age not to be haughty, nor to trust in uncertain riches but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy. Let them do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to give, willing to share, storing up for themselves a good foundation for the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life (1 Timothy 6:17-19, NKJV).

People do so many things for the purpose of getting money at the end. Many people actually do the work of God for what they can get from God, most of the time all the desires translate to desire for more money.  You should beware of love of money, which is the root of all evil, (1 Timothy 6:10). Your trust should be in God who gives you ALL THINGS TO ENJOY. All the Lord is asking for is that you make Him number one in your life and He will give you all things to enjoy.

Focusing on what you can get from God denies you of the blessing of a wonderful relationship with God.  Money is not all in life. God is awesome when you truly get to know a bit of Him. As you deepen your relationship with the Lord, He reveals more and more of Himself to you. THERE IS MORE TO GOD THAN YOU HAVE EVER SEEN OR HEARD and we can only know Him in part (1 Corinthians 13:9). He is magnificent and endearing! The people who have seen Christ want to see more of Him and those who have seen a glimpse of heaven want to quickly go there.

Why would you chase the shadow when you can have the real thing? God is the source and giver of enduring riches. When you have Jesus you have all.  It is God who teaches you to profit (Isaiah 48:17), so no doubt, God wants you to have money but not more than you want Him. He said in Matthew 6:33 that you should seek first the kingdom of God and every other thing will be added to you. Read more...

Easter Celebration-Christ, God’s Escape Route

Hallelujah! Easter celebration again! Do you really know why you celebrated? What does Christ’s death and resurrection mean to you? This post aims at giving you a better reason for celebrating Easter- Christ is God’s escape route.

And though the Lord gives you the bread of adversity and the water of affliction, yet your teachers will not be moved into a corner anymore, but your eyes shall see your teachers. Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” whenever you turn to the right hand or whenever you turn to the left – Isaiah 30:20-21 (NKJV)

Many people have different reasons why they celebrate during this period; for some it’s a work free day and that’s all. But Easter celebration is much more than that. It is a time we remember how God orchestrated our salvation. Jesus is God’s wisdom and power (1 Corinthians 1:24).
Adam’s sin against God opened up the way for sin to have dominion over man. But Christ’s death and resurrection opened up God’s escape route for man. If the enemy knew he wouldn’t have killed Jesus (1 Corinthians 2:8). Hallelujah, the devil doesn’t know everything, but our God does! (Hebrews 4:13)

Sin comes with consequences which must take their due course. The wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ (Romans 6:23). This death includes untold challenges and ultimately damnation forever.

But God sent Jesus to redeem us from our sins and all the consequences that follow, so that if you receive Him, it becomes a reality in your life. For God so love the world that He gave His only son that if you believe in Him you will not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16). Read  more...

Celebration of the Gift of Life

Christmas celebration is the celebration of God’s gift of life to humanity. It is the celebration of God’s love for man. An understanding of the essence of Christmas gives you access to the Lord’s abundance of life. Embracing it is to embrace the Master’s victory over darkness. This post enlightens you on the reason for Christmas.

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life (John 3:16, NKJV)

And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life (1 John 5:11-12, NKJV)

Jesus Christ is the Lord’s gift of life. He is the way, the truth and the life (John 14:6), and whoever receives Him receives the way, truth and life.

He is a value-added personality to anyone who receives Him. He is the Prince of peace and giver of peace (Isaiah 9:6, John 14:27). He has come to give you life in abundance (John 10:10)

Christmas is the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ and the birth of all that He came to give us. The enemy comes to steal, kill and to destroy but Christ comes to give you life and to give it to you in abundance. Wherever, Jesus appears, life appears. Jesus makes all the difference!

Christmas day is the day of thanksgiving unto God, who has made way for man’s redemption and victory over the enemy. God’s abundant and eternal life is in Christ. And if you are a believing Christian, it is a time to celebrate your salvation in Christ, for having Christ is the assurance of eternal life with God the Father. Read more...

Understanding The Mission Of Jesus

God is a God of purpose and does nothing without a reason. Jesus was sent to earth by God for a purpose, which He started and finished. An understanding of this purpose will help you to appreciate the coming of Christ and His mission on earth.

And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.” Matthew 1:21 (NKJV)

Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation -2 Corinthians 5:18-19 (NKJV)

And you, who once were alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now He has reconciled in the body of His flesh through death, to present you holy, and blameless, and above reproach in His sight---  Colossians 1:21-22 (NKJV)

The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly – John 10:10 (NKJV)
Jesus Christ came to save, reconcile men back to God and give them life in abundance.

Salvation of souls
When the angel of the Lord visited Joseph to assure him that it was okay to take Mary as his wife, he gave him the name of the baby and his purpose on earth: to save His people from their sin.
God, from the time of the fall of man via Adam, made a plan to redeem man from his fall and restore him to his original position before the fall. When the Lord created man he was without sin before Him and only knew sin when they disobeyed God and ate the forbidden fruit (Genesis 3:1-11). So, through Adam, sin entered the world and people became sinners (Romans 5:12, 19).

Jesus was God’s wisdom and power (1 Corinthians 1:24) to save man from his sins and restore him to his original state before the fall. In Genesis 3:15, God declared this plan of victory over the devil – the Seed of the woman was to defeat the devil.  The enemy expected it, tried to abort it many times but failed because he didn’t know how God was going to execute His plan. Building Up Confidence For The Day Of Judgment

Can you boldly stand before God on the day of judgment? Are you scared of being told “depart from me”, by Jesus? You need not be: there is a perfect way to build up confidence for that day. The best way is by a walk of love.

In this [union and communion with Him] love is brought to completion and attains perfection with us, that we may have confidence for the day of judgment [with assurance and boldness to face Him], because as He is, so are we in this world – 1 John 4:17 (AMP)

“Strive to enter through the narrow gate, for many, I say to you, will seek to enter and will not be able. But He will say, ‘I tell you I do not know you, where you are from. Depart from Me, all you workers of iniquity.’ – Luke 13: 24, 27 (NKJV)

Many people don’t believe that the day of judgment is coming and that they should prepare for it. The truth is that it shall surely come to pass. If other prophesies of God came to pass, this one will also.

What is the day of judgment?

It is the day that God will judge both the living and the dead, books will be opened and whosoever was not found written in the book of life will be condemned, Revelations 20:12, 15, 2 Timothy 4:1, 1 Peter 4: 5-8.

So, what kind of life should we live to escape damnation?

It is a life of love. Love is the beginning and the ending of God’s manual for escape. It meets all the requirements of God and is the fulfilling of the law. The commandments, you shall not commit adultery, you shall not kill, you shall not steal, you shall not covet and any other commandment, are summed up in the single command, you shall love your neighbor as yourself, Romans 13: 8-10.
Walking in love builds up your confidence for the day of judgment. You will be bold to stand before God knowing that you have met God’s requirements for eternal life with Him. You will not be afraid of death because you will ever be ready to face God boldly. Read more...
