Seven Reasons To Seek First The Kingdom Of God And His Righteousness

Do you wonder why it's so important to seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness? Truly, the Lord is the God of purpose. And He wouldn't ask us to do a thing if it's not for a good cause. Even so, this instruction of God is for good. Therefore, in this post reasons to seek the kingdom of God and His righteousness are given.

Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you - Matthew 6:31-33 (NKJV).

Introduction

The commandments of the Lord are not grievous instructions. For the thoughts of God for us are not evil but good, to give us a future and a hope. And it's obedience to His instructions that leads us to that great future and hope He has for us. However, we're creatures of choice and can decide what to do and when to do it. So, to help us make the right choices, Christ instructed us to first seek the kingdom of God and His righteousness before any other thing. This will eventually help us to better prioritize the other things in our lives. So what else do you gain seeking God's kingdom first?

Reasons To Seek First The Kingdom Of God And His Righteousness

1. Easy access to your heart desires in Christ.

Many are busy struggling to meet their needs, and in the process, they hurt people and many times themselves. Yet, there is a better and easier way to meet these needs without hurting anyone. This was what Christ offered to us through the instruction given in Matthew 6:33. As such, as you focus on doing the will of the Lord, God ensures that you lack nothing good. Truly, He knows that you have a need for these things and knows exactly how to get them across to you. This He will do without stress. For everything was created by Him and is under His command. So, He has no problem providing for you when you mind His kingdom.

2. Anxiety free life

You can't focus on the Lord and still be anxious. This is because your faith in God and His ability to provide and take care of you is built up. And faith and anxiety don't go together; you can only manifest one at a time. Also, the Prince of peace will keep you in perfect peace as you mind His kingdom. Read more...

This Is A Soul Winner Call To Action

Are you ready to answer the call to win souls as a way of life? My earlier posts gave the details on God's heartbeat, which is soul winning. And now, I want to encourage you to take action and win souls for Christ.

What Action Will You Take?

What will you do with the knowledge of soul winning that you have acquired? The scripture says that you should be a doer of the word and not a hearer only (James 1:22).

But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves

- James 1:22 (NKJV).

And anyone who is not a doer is deceiving himself or herself. So, it is what you do with what you know that matters not just what you know. Therefore, God expects you to use the knowledge of soul winning you have acquired and draw men to Jesus.

Will You Obey Christ?

As a disciple of Christ, Jesus has instruction for you. This instruction is that you should go and make disciples of all nations. Also, you're to teach them to observe all that He had commanded. And if you love God, you will obey His commandment. Furthermore, Christ expects His disciples to bring other people into the fold. And He said that He will be with you all through, even to the end of the age (Matthew 28:19-20).

Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age. Amen.

 - Matthew 28:19-20 (NKJV). Read more...

This Christian Race

If you're saved in Christ, do you know that you're in a Christian race to heaven? Many Christians are so casual about this truth that they're missing it, and they are not even aware of it. Christianity is a race. And the sooner, Christians become serious with it, the greater their chances of making it to the finishing line.

Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it. And everyone who competes for the prize is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a perishable crown, but we for an imperishable crown. Therefore I run thus: not with uncertainty. Thus I fight: not as one who beats the air. But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified - I Corinthians 9:24-27 (NKJV).

The State of the Nominal Christian

Many believing Christians act as if Christianity is only about giving your life to Christ. And many have remained with this mindset for many years. So, they end up not being different from an unbeliever, except that they keep telling themselves that they're believers. However, this is a deceit from the pit of hell.
It's unfortunate that many believing Christians take their career or business more seriously than they do their Christian life. And they spend all the time, energy, and money to prepare and acquire what they desire concerning their work, mental or physical goals. But they will spend little or no time for their spiritual life. This is because they consider it as being trivial. And this is what the enemy wants them to believe so that they will miss the crown.

The Christian Race

Christianity is a race and we're gunning for the imperishable crown which God will give all who will run to obtain it. So, you're to run, observing the rules, in order to obtain the crown. Also, you're to run with certainty, not like one beating the air aimlessly. Furthermore, you need to discipline yourself so that you will not miss it on that day. Read more...

Are You Washing The Feet Of The Others Like Jesus?

What does it mean to wash the feet of others? How often do you wash the feet of brethren? Jesus gave an example to follow if we want blessings. And in this post, I share an understanding of what that example of Christ means.

So when He had washed their feet, taken His garments, and sat down again, He said to them, “Do you know what I have done to you? You call Me Teacher and Lord, and you say well, for so I am. If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. For I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you. If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them – John 13:12-15, 17 (NKJV).

Many believing Christians don’t wash the feet of others as Christ had commanded. And those who do, struggle with who to wash and who not to wash. This has robbed many believers of God’s blessings. Therefore, it’s important that you understand “washing of others feet” and to do as Jesus had instructed.

What is 'washing the disciples’ feet?'

This means to some Christians humility and to some others literal washing of feet to receive blessings from God. However, washing disciples’ feet also means serving brethren without reservations. Surely, people serve others, but with conditions and restrains. But, Jesus Christ, our Lord, served all the disciples and did the same things to them. And He showed no reservations for any of them. This is what God expects of all His children.

What is expected of a servant?

A servant is to serve without complaining or murmuring. Also, he should wait on the other person, giving any assistance as required of him. Furthermore, he is to put the other person ahead of himself or herself at all times; that is, the other person comes first at all times. Interestingly, I believe, this is how God wants us to serve one another. This may involve something as small as wiping water poured and left by another. And it may involve you putting aside your urgent assignments to help someone who is in the dying minutes of something. Read more...

The First Things First For A Glorious Year Ahead

Glory, it's a New Year! What does this New Year have for you? To a great extent, you determine how this year will turn out for you. What you do at the beginning of the year determines what you get at the end of it. This post encourages you to do the first things first to enjoy a glorious New Year.

But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you - Matthew 6:33 (NKJV).

Prepare your outside work, Make it fit for yourself in the field; and afterward build your house - Proverbs 24:27 (NKJV).

In any race, how you start affects how you run and end. So this New Year demands a great start for you to go through it and end successfully; the choice is yours. As such, wise preparation by you will yield a fruitful year for you.

The first things for the New Year

1. Thanksgiving

It is important to start the year with quality time giving thanks unto God for all He did for you last year, for bringing you into the New Year and what He intends to do for you this year. It is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord (Psalm 92:1). Truly, there are many things to thank God for, including your life and salvation. This is because many people started last year with you but they are no more, and your relationship with the Lord not only determines what comes to you here on earth but also where you'll spend eternity. So, you need to thank God that you're not lost. Read more...

Move From Being A Baby To Being A Matured Co-Heir With Christ

Are you a baby still drinking milk or matured co-heir with Christ eating solid food? What you are determines the authority you can exercise and level of freedom from oppression you enjoy. A baby is highly vulnerable to predators and so should not be a stage any believing Christian should occupy for long. This post encourages you to quickly grow into being a matured co-heir with Christ.

Now I say that the heir, as long as he is a child, does not differ at all from a slave, though he is master of all, but is under guardians and stewards until the time appointed by the father. Even so we, when we were children, were in bondage under the elements of the world – Galatians 4:1-3 (NKJV).

I fed you with milk and not with solid food; for until now you were not able to receive it, and even now you are still not able – I Corinthians 3:2 (NKJV).

For everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe. But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil – Hebrews 5:13-14 (NKJV).

At salvation, you are a baby in the Lord who can only receive milk and not solid food. However, it is expected that you should soon be able to chew solid food. The speed with which you graduate to solid food depends solely on you. You are the one to try your hands on the word of righteousness, use it and have your senses exercised to discern both good and evil. You are the one to put the word to work in your life, that is, believe in the word of God, act on it and expect it to do what God says it will do in your life. As you act on God’s word and see results, your faith to act more on the Lord’s word increases, as such you will be growing from a baby to a matured co-heir with Christ. Read more...

If God Be For You Who Can Be Against You

What is still holding you bound to fear? You have been released from all kinds of fear including the fear of death, which is the main thing holding people in bondage all their lifetime (Hebrews 2:15). As a child of God you have no reason to fear again, for if God be for you, WHO can be against you? This post aims at making you see that the Lord is bigger than all your fears.

What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? - Romans 8:31 (NKJV).

The LORD is on my side; I will not fear. What can man do to me? It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man. All nations surrounded me, but in the name of the LORD I will destroy them - Psalms 118:6, 8, 10 (NKJV).

Many people are so fearful. They are afflicted by fear of so many things: fear of the devil, fear of wicked men, failure, rejection, poverty and sickness. However, this is so because of, first their ignorance of whom the Almighty God is and secondly, what they have surrounded themselves with. They allow themselves to be fed with the evils and wickedness in this world and so become clogged with fear. You shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free (John 8:32). You must choose Christ to enjoy deliverance and protection from Him.

Two forces on earth

There are only two forces determining which direction you will go: God and Satan. Everything on earth concerning you is governed by either of these two, and who you yield yourself to determines what becomes of you (Romans 6:16).

The Almighty God cannot be compared with the devil, but unfortunately many people fear him more than they fear the Lord. God is the creator of the devil, why should you fear the created? The enemy is subject to Christ (Colossians 2:10), so if Christ is for you can the enemy be against you? The Lord is more powerful and wiser, and His words never fall to the ground (Isaiah 55:11). Going Back To the Base!

Back To the Base!
The Word of God is real!
I know it and I believe it.
How I pray that it will be established in all areas of mine life NOW!
Unfortunately, it is not so.
I have to patiently wait for its manifestation in my life, having done the will of God (Hebrews 10:36).
The scripture says, “Having done all, to stand firm” (Ephesians 6:13)
But then, have I done all?
This I wonder!
So, I go back to the base: Word Study.

The Word of God reveals the will of God for me and shows me how to access it (1Corinthians 2:9-13).
I reach out for it and it seems far-fetched.
I ask myself, “is it really for me?”
Then the Holy Spirit reminds me that God has given me richly all things to enjoy (1 Timothy 6:17).
Why am I not getting them?
So, I go back to the base: Word Study.

I realize that I need to grow my faith in God (Jude 20),
I need to walk in absolute obedience to God (Deuteronomy 28:1-2),
I need to walk in love (Ephesians 5:1-2) and
I need to be prayerful (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18).
How do I go about these?
So, I go back to the base: Word Study.

With Jesus You Are a Multitude

Do you have an idea or a good course and you wish you have a lot of supporters to drive it? Or are you behind time and you wish that help will come so that you can finish on time? You don’t need to look far, help is near and beside you – Jesus. When you have Christ you have all the people you need. This post emphasizes that Jesus is the answer to the multitude you are asking for.

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me– Philippians 4:13 (NKJV).

But Jesus looked at them and said, With men this is impossible, but all things are possible with God- Matthew 19:26 (AMP).

There is this saying among my people- “Igwe bu ike”. It means “multitude is strength”. This is true because you accomplish a lot with multitude compared to when you are alone or with a few people. However, there are certain times that having multitude won’t help, rather it spoils things or circumstances. Besides, what happens to the person that can’t muster a crowd to help out? There is hope in Christ!

When you have Jesus you have a multitude and more. When God is with you, you will accomplish every task or course on time and excellently. This is because you can do all things through Christ who strengthens you, and also what is impossible with men is very possible with God. Nothing is impossible with God (Luke 1:37).

How can God do it?

The earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof (1 Corinthians 10:26). Everything (Matthew 8:27) heeds to the commands of God including people. As a raven fed Elijah for days (1 Kings 17:6), God can send anything or people to help you, or do anything even if it means delaying someone somewhere till you get to your destination. There are so many testimonies like that. God can do it for you too. Read more...

Easter Celebration-Christ, God’s Escape Route

Hallelujah! Easter celebration again! Do you really know why you celebrated? What does Christ’s death and resurrection mean to you? This post aims at giving you a better reason for celebrating Easter- Christ is God’s escape route.

And though the Lord gives you the bread of adversity and the water of affliction, yet your teachers will not be moved into a corner anymore, but your eyes shall see your teachers. Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” whenever you turn to the right hand or whenever you turn to the left – Isaiah 30:20-21 (NKJV)

Many people have different reasons why they celebrate during this period; for some it’s a work free day and that’s all. But Easter celebration is much more than that. It is a time we remember how God orchestrated our salvation. Jesus is God’s wisdom and power (1 Corinthians 1:24).
Adam’s sin against God opened up the way for sin to have dominion over man. But Christ’s death and resurrection opened up God’s escape route for man. If the enemy knew he wouldn’t have killed Jesus (1 Corinthians 2:8). Hallelujah, the devil doesn’t know everything, but our God does! (Hebrews 4:13)

Sin comes with consequences which must take their due course. The wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ (Romans 6:23). This death includes untold challenges and ultimately damnation forever.

But God sent Jesus to redeem us from our sins and all the consequences that follow, so that if you receive Him, it becomes a reality in your life. For God so love the world that He gave His only son that if you believe in Him you will not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16). Read  more...
