What
is more important-how people see you or how God sees you? Many people
are desperate to be wealthy but are not even concerned about how God
sees them. They forget that He made them and that He will be there on
judgment day. This post emphasizes the importance of being rich before
God.
Because you say, 'I am rich, have become wealthy,
and have need of nothing' - and do not know that you are wretched,
miserable, poor, blind, and naked. I counsel you to buy from Me gold
refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments, that you
may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed;
and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see. As many as I
love, I rebuke and hasten. Therefore be zealous and repent - Revelations
3:17-19 (NKJV).
Many
people are doing so many things to be rich. Some are actually
overworking themselves and some are into dubious things, while others
are into Christian activities just to have God prosper them. You need to
always remember that money is not everything.
Is
it wrong to be rich? Not at all. God says that He takes pleasure in our
prosperity (Psalm 35:27) and that He is the one who teaches us to
prosper (Isaiah 48:17). He also wishes above all things that we prosper
and be in health even as our souls prosper (3 John 2).
However,
the question is, "how does God see you?" He said in Revelations 3:17-19
that those who thought they were rich were actually poor, wretched,
miserable, blind and naked! Are there no rich persons before God?
Surely, there are many people who are rich before God. What makes them
different from other wealthy people is their garment and where they got
their wealth.
