What To Do When Suffering As A Christian

 

 

Christian suffering is a reality! This is because every one who desires to live godly in Christ will suffer persecution. But the good news is that God will deliver you from them all. However, persecution is neither palatable nor desirable no matter how short or long the period of suffering may be. Therefore this post tells you what to do when suffering as a Christian.

 

Persecutions, afflictions, which happened to me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra—what persecutions I endured. And out of them all the Lord delivered me. Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution – 2 Timothy 3:11-12 (NKJV, emphasis mine)

 

‘…For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” So we may boldly say: “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?”’ Hebrews 13:5-6 (NKJV)

 

God has assured Christians, who decide to live for Him, of His support and comfort when they suffer persecution. He has promised not to fail you in any way, give you up, nor in any degree leave you helpless. God is faithful. But while believing God and waiting on Him for your deliverance and restoration, there is a need for you to stand strong – Ephesians 6:13

 

Now, what to do to stand strong when suffering as a Christian –

Ephesians 6:10-18, 1 Peter 4:12-19

1. Be strong in the Lord

You are to be strong in the Lord and not in yourself. You need to be empowered through your union with Him; abide in His word – John 15:7. Always remember that you can do nothing on your own.

2. Be strong in the power of His might

You need to draw strength from the unlimited power of the Lord. You can do all things through Christ who strengthens you (Philippians 4:13): including when you suffer persecution.

3. Put on the whole armour of God

Christian suffering is an impossible situation without the whole armour of God. This is because you are actually not wrestling with human beings (flesh and blood) but with all manner of forces of darkness. If you must successfully stand up against the strategies and the deceits of the devil, you must be fully equipped with God’s armour – Ephesians 6:14-18

4. Don’t think it strange

It has been given to you as a Christian not only to believe in Christ but also to suffer for His sake – Philippians 1:29. The truth remains that the apostles and all believing Christians before you went through persecution, and Christians after you who desire to live godly will surely suffer persecution. Why Live A Life Of Gratitude Unto God As A Lifestyle?

 

How often do you thank God? It is normal for many people to complain and murmur more than to give thanks to God. However, thanksgiving is the way of life of a true believer and it determines his access to God and His blessings. In this post, you're encouraged to live a life of gratitude as a lifestyle.

 

In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you - I Thessalonians 5:18 (NKJV).

 

Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, And into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name - Psalms 100:4 (NKJV).

 

Introduction

A person that is grateful will be thankful. However, discontentment has made it difficult for many people to see the goodness of God around them. This causes them not to appreciate God for His blessings. Rather, they would murmur and complain to God for the things He's yet to do for them. Yet a life of gratitude as a lifestyle is a way to get more from the Lord. Therefore, now you're saved, exercise yourself in being grateful to God all the time.

 

Why Thanksgiving?

1. It is the will of God

It's God's will that we give Him thanks in everything. This includes when it's favourable or not favourable. And as a child of God, you're to obey the will of God. Also, as you give our Father thanks, He will come into that situation, and what is not of God will disappear.

 

In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you - I Thessalonians 5:18 (NKJV).

 

2. It gives access to the Father

You enter the gates of heaven with thanksgiving if you desire to gain access to God. Otherwise, you will not be allowed into the Lord's presence. So, no matter how urgent or pressing your request is, you must first give thanks to the Almighty Father.

3. Secures your blessings

Expressing your gratitude to God will secure your blessings. This is because as you praise the Lord, He causes increases to come your way. And these increases can be in different forms, including financial and material blessings.

Why You Must Increase Your Expectation On The Word Of God

 

 

What do you expect from the word of God? Your expectation is a function of what you know and understand of God's word. And the word of God delivers to you what you expect from it; for your expectation shall not be cut off. Therefore, increase your expectation of the word of God to increase what it delivers to you.

 

For surely there is an end; and thine expectation shall not be cut off - Proverbs 23:18 (KJV).

 

My son, give attention to my words; incline your ear to my sayings. Do not let them depart from your eyes; keep them in the midst of your heart; for they are life to those who find them, and health to all their flesh - Proverbs 4:20-22 (NKJV).

Why You Must Increase Your Expectation On The Word Of God

1.You're born and maintained by the word

Everything in this world, including you, was made by God's word. And the Lord upholds His creation by the word of His power. So, if you want to operate at your best you must breathe and eat the word. This is because your spirit, soul and body will grow and respond maximally when you give them what they are made of; while any other intake will make them malfunction.

 

By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible - Hebrews 11:3 (NKJV).

Evangelize-Reach Out To People And Win Souls For God

 

How many people have you shared the good news of your salvation with? Do you want others to be saved? If receiving Christ as your saviour is wonderful, you will want other people to have Him too as their saviour too. Surely, the joy of salvation, you shouldn't keep to yourself alone. This post encourages you to reach out and win souls for Christ.

 

And as you go, preach, saying, ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’ Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give - Matthew 10:7-8 (NKJV).

 

And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned - Mark 16:15-16 (NKJV).

 

Introduction

Since the time of our Lord Jesus, there has been a network marketing of the gospel of Christ. This is a channel whereby, one hears and receives the gospel and goes ahead to share the gospel with others. And as these people receive the gospel, they too go ahead to tell others and the network keeps increasing. This is how salvation reached our generation and reached you, and will reach generations after us if Jesus tarries. Therefore, it's very important that you evangelize, reach out and win souls that multitudes be delivered from condemnation.

 

Freely You Receive, Freely Give

Praise God, the salvation of our souls is free. So, we can freely share the good news with others that they be saved too. For, it's not the will of God that any perish, but that all should have eternal life.

 

The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance - 2 Peter 3:9 (NKJV).

 

Therefore, having been saved, it's important that you join the army of Jesus to reach out and win souls for Christ. So, let the joy of salvation flow from you to many others. Hence, freely you have received Christ, free lead many others to Him.

 

It's Not A Burden

Evangelism is not a burden if you value the souls of the lost and have compassion towards them as God does. Rather, it will be a thing of joy that multitudes get delivered from darkness and have opportunities to return to God.
