What Is Wisdom To You?

What is wisdom to you? Do you walk in it? An understanding of the meaning of a thing makes it possible for you to assess your usage and development of it. Wisdom is the principal thing in life and so should be consciously acquired and used. This post explains what wisdom is.

And to man He said, ‘Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom, and to depart from evil is understanding - Job 28:28 (NKJV).

Wisdom is the solution to your challenge, but if you don't know what wisdom is how will you identify one when you see or hear it? Therefore, it is important to know what it is.

What Is Wisdom?

According to Cambridge dictionary, it is the ability to use your knowledge and experience to make good decisions and judgments. As such, it is the correct application of knowledge and experience acquired.

Dr David Oyedepo defines it as, "knowing what to do and doing it, knowing what to say and saying it, and knowing where to go and going there."
Therefore, it is not enough to know what to say or do, or where to go, it is important that you say or do it, or go there otherwise it is not wisdom. You must apply the knowledge for it to be wisdom.

Furthermore, the fear of the Lord is wisdom (Job 28:28). Having the fear of God is the beginning of wisdom (Proverbs 9:10). This is where to start if you want to build up this virtue in you. The application of wisdom is here on earth and God is the creator of the earth. No action contrary to His principles will be regarded as wisdom by Him.

In addition, wisdom is the act of obeying God (Matthew 7:24). Hearing and doing the words of the Lord makes you a wise man. This likens you to a wise man who built his house on a rock and when challenges of all kinds came, the house remained standing because it was founded on a rock (Matthew 7:25). Wisdom is to know what God says concerning an issue and doing it.

Types of wisdom
There are all kinds of knowledge available leading to different kinds of wisdom. The root or source of the knowledge determines the type of wisdom that will be manifested. According to James 3:15-18, there are four types of wisdom: Read more...

Wisdom For Living

Do you have wisdom? Wisdom is the key to successful living on earth. Lack of it is to be groping in the dark and be surrounded by great woes, wailing and destruction. Wisdom makes the difference between success and failure, life and death, poverty and prosperity, health and sickness. Possession of wisdom is to possess life.

Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom and in all your getting, get understanding – Proverbs 4:7 (NKJV).

“I, wisdom, dwell with prudence, and find out knowledge and discretion…I love those who love me, and those who seek me diligently will find me. Riches and honor are with me, enduring riches and righteousness…The Lord possessed me at the beginning of His way, before His works of old…Then I was beside Him as a master craftsman; and I was daily His delight, rejoicing always before Him…Blessed is the man who listens to me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors. For whoever finds me finds life, and obtains favor from the Lord – Proverbs 8:12, 17-18, 22, 30, 34-35 (NKJV).

The Lord founded the earth by wisdom (Proverbs 3:19) and so man needs wisdom to be able to occupy her successfully. Wisdom is the principal thing to possess in order to enjoy living on earth. Every challenge in life is basically a wisdom problem and to have wisdom for any challenge is to have 50% of it solved.

Wisdom was God’s master craftsman in creation. He utilized wisdom to successfully create all we see, use and enjoy. With wisdom you have prudence, knowledge and discretion; a complete package that will help you not to stumble or make mistakes in your words and action.

The choices you make are measures of the wisdom available to you. The more the wisdom you acquire the better your choices and the outcomes you get. It is your responsibility to go for wisdom in all areas of your life. You need wisdom to live a victorious Christian life and also to live every phase of your life very well and remarkably: as a child, student, worker, spouse, parent, friend, leader, neighbour, colleague, group member, boss, employee and client. The list can go on and on. Your level of wisdom will affect your relationship with others and so is important that you possess it. Read more...

Wisdom For Living-Consider The Poor

Do you consider the poor? Is giving to the poor part of your budget? This is an important wisdom for living. It is a wisdom key which many believing Christians are neglecting to their own detriment. This post expounds on considering the poor as wisdom for living.

Blessed is he who considers the poor; the Lord will deliver him in time of trouble. The Lord will preserve him and keep him alive, and he will be blessed on the earth; You will not deliver him to the will of his enemies. The Lord will strengthen him on his bed of illness; You will sustain him on his sickbed – Psalm 41:1-3 (NKJV).

He who gives to the poor will not lack, but he who hides his eyes will have many curses – Proverbs 28:27 (NKJV).

He who has pity on the poor lends to the Lord, and He will pay back what he has given – Proverbs 19:17 (NKJV).

The poor are important to God. While He waits for them to learn and overcome poverty (Deuteronomy 8:18, Psalm 35:27), He also would want them to be well taken care of, because He cares for them. God will not come down in person to help the poor; He will need human beings to reach out to them. So, God is ready to bless anyone who will offer himself or herself as a channel of blessing to the poor.

Whoever considers the poor does so on behalf of the Almighty God and lends to Him, and He will repay back (Proverbs 19:17). Imagine when God is repaying back what He will give! You give with your little hand and God repays with His big hand! Awesome investment! Give to the poor and you will never know lack in your life (Proverbs 28:27). Read more...

Will You Wait On God Till Your Change Comes?

Are you waiting on God for something and it seems it’s taking ages to come? Will you wait on Him till your change comes? Many Christians tend to give up after a while instead of waiting till their change comes. This usually costs them the best that the Lord has for them. This post encourages you to wait till you receive God’s promise for you.

If a man die, shall he live again? All the days of my appointed time will I wait, till my change come – Job 14:14 (KJV).

To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven – Ecclesiastes 3:1 (NKJV).

For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry – Habakkuk 2:3 (NKJV).

God is a God of time and season; He has different times for His various purposes. Walking according to the God's time leads you to the best He has for you. This calls for your faith and trust in the Lord, for he who believes will not make haste (Isaiah 28:16). It also calls for patience on your part, for you have need of patience that after you have done the will of God you may obtain the promise (Hebrews 10:36).

God is not slack concerning His promises (2 Peter 3:9) but is working out all things for your good who love Him (Romans 8:28). The promise may tarry but wait for it for it will surely come to pass greater than you can imagine. The farmer that planted cocoa waits longer time for harvest than the farmer who planted corn, but when his harvest time comes, it is very productive compared to the corn farmer who reaps after three months and will have to sow again before harvesting again. Also, the profits from sales of cocoa are much higher than profits from sales of corn. Therefore, based on the above analogy, it is profitable to wait for your appointed time, even if many people are reaping before you. Read more...
