Examine Yourself and See That You're in The Faith

How prepared are you for this year? This year surely will be great, so we should expect nothing less than greatness. Therefore, engage diligence in whatever you're doing, expecting God to crown your efforts with great results. However, you must be diligent too in your walk with God. This post encourages you to examine yourself and see that you're in the faith.

“Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Do you not know yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you?—unless indeed you are disqualified.”

- 2 Corinthians 13:5 (NKJV).

Introduction

It's important that you put in your best and work hard this year. However, in all you do, do it as unto the Lord. This is because your work, ambition, and activities are to occupy you till Christ comes. Therefore, while we engage in fruitful and honoring activities, we must not neglect the most important thing in life: our walk with God.

Truly, we're pilgrims on earth as Jacob acknowledged in Genesis 47:9. However, our walk with God here on earth determines where we will go, and our rewards after this life. And this is the truth and it will never be changed.

Examine Yourself

Therefore, I charge you to examine yourself and see that you're in the faith. This you should do on a daily basis because Christ will come as a thief in the night (1 Thessalonians 5:2). So, you must always be prepared in spite of what is happening in the world.

Thus, as you plan for success and greatness this year, also plan for your spiritual growth. So, build up your spiritual life and increase your service unto the Lord. This is what counts for you in heaven. For all other activities are for you to occupy till Jesus comes. Therefore, pay more attention to your walk with God. Read more...

7 Reasons a Christian Believer Must Engage In Bible Study

Have you heard people asking questions like, why should a Christian study the bible? Is the church bible study not enough? Is the bible the word of God? Some would love to study the bible but seem not to have the time for it. This article is to give reasons Christian believers MUST do bible study and they are listed in no particular order
The bible is God’s words to mankind. Anybody who cares to study it gets to know more about God, what and how He thinks and why He thinks the way He does. Also, the bible teaches us how God operates and how to plug into His ways to enjoy all God’s blessings and escape destruction. Now, breaking these teachings from the word of God;

Why should we study the bible?

1. Revelation of our position in Christ

The bible is centred round the Messiah, our Lord Jesus Christ, from Genesis to Revelation. The scriptures point to the salvation of mankind by Jesus. This was fulfilled in the New Testament. Jesus redeemed man and restored his relationship back to God, restoring him to his original state before the fall. Bible study reveals this to us and teaches us how to gain access to this victory and how we can exercise this triumph only in Christ. That is, it reveals who you are in Christ and what power you have in Christ Jesus. We are seated with Christ in the place of authority in heavenly places as Ephesians 2:5-6 says.

2. Revelation of our inheritance in Christ

Through studying the bible, a Christian believer discovers what belongs to him as a believer. Paul said in Acts 20:32 that the word of God is able to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified. This inheritance includes healing, prosperity, long life, peace etc and ultimately eternal life. When people are ignorant of what they stand to enjoy as Christians, the devil will always cheat or destroy them, just like God said in Hosea 4:6 that His people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. The Importance of Prayer-A Must for Christian Believers

Why should a Christian pray? How often should I pray? These questions and many more are constantly heard from people. Some people wonder if there is really any need to pray. This article is to emphasize the importance of praying to a Believer and is listed in no particular order. The reasons a Christian believer must pray
  • A channel of communication
Prayer is a two-way channel by which God and man communicate with each other. Communication is very vital for any relationship that is to pass the test of time. Through prayers Christians relate their minds, feelings, emotions, desires and inadequacies, while God communicates answers, assurance and His supremacy to the believers.
  • Experience the love of God
God is love and through prayers you experience and understand more the love of Jesus. When you pray acceptably you enter into God’s presence where you will be enveloped by God’s love. This assures you of God’s protection over you, insecurity disappears and you receive boldness to face life knowing that Jesus loves you and will always be by your side. David, a man of praise and prayer, experienced this that he wondered in Psalm 8:4, what man is that God is so mindful of him. Also Paul prayed in Ephesians 3:14-19 that the Ephesians should experience this love of Jesus. Read more...

A Christian Attitude Towards Being Offended

“It is impossible that no offences should come...”NKJV. Those were the words of Jesus to His disciples (Christians). Offence will surely come whether we expect it or not, whether we are prepared for it or not! Our attitude towards offence determines the effect it will have on us.

People offend God, fellowmen at one time or another. Some offend intentionally, while some unintentionally. Interestingly, whether you do what is right or wrong, somebody will be offended. The question is “what should be the Christian attitude towards being offended?” To a great extent we can not stop the offences that come our way, but we can control our attitude or response to them. A decision to work towards not being offended is a right step to take if anyone will have a Christian attitude towards offences.

Sometimes, what offends one will not offend another. This shows that we have the capacity to have the right attitude towards offences. Identifying some of the things that cause people to be offended will help one to know how to develop right attitude towards offences. Read more...
