It Takes Grace to Obey God

Are you struggling with obeying the Lord? The proof of your love for God is your obedience to all His instructions. However, obeying Him totally is not an easy thing considering that you engage your flesh in a battle in the process. This post states the grace of God as a requirement for obeying the Lord all the time.


So he answered and said to me: this is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel: ‘Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ Says the LORD of hosts – Zechariah 4:6 (NKJV).
But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me was not in vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all, yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me – I Corinthians 15:10 (NKJV).

Many Christians truly desire to obey Christ all the time but they are weak when it comes to contending with the desires of their flesh. The good they desire to do, they find themselves not doing; but the evil they don’t want to do, they find themselves doing. However, the good news is that through Jesus Christ you can overcome this battle (Romans 7:15-25). Jesus gives us the grace (John 1:17) to obey the word of God.

You cannot by yourself obey God, for it is not by your might nor power but by the help of the Holy Spirit (Zechariah 4:6), which comes in the form of the grace of God. Grace is an unearned, undeserved favour of God. It enables you to do what you normally or ordinarily would not be able to do. Read more....
