Are You Washing The Feet Of The Others Like Jesus?

What does it mean to wash the feet of others? How often do you wash the feet of brethren? Jesus gave an example to follow if we want blessings. And in this post, I share an understanding of what that example of Christ means.

So when He had washed their feet, taken His garments, and sat down again, He said to them, “Do you know what I have done to you? You call Me Teacher and Lord, and you say well, for so I am. If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. For I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you. If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them – John 13:12-15, 17 (NKJV).

Many believing Christians don’t wash the feet of others as Christ had commanded. And those who do, struggle with who to wash and who not to wash. This has robbed many believers of God’s blessings. Therefore, it’s important that you understand “washing of others feet” and to do as Jesus had instructed.

What is 'washing the disciples’ feet?'

This means to some Christians humility and to some others literal washing of feet to receive blessings from God. However, washing disciples’ feet also means serving brethren without reservations. Surely, people serve others, but with conditions and restrains. But, Jesus Christ, our Lord, served all the disciples and did the same things to them. And He showed no reservations for any of them. This is what God expects of all His children.

What is expected of a servant?

A servant is to serve without complaining or murmuring. Also, he should wait on the other person, giving any assistance as required of him. Furthermore, he is to put the other person ahead of himself or herself at all times; that is, the other person comes first at all times. Interestingly, I believe, this is how God wants us to serve one another. This may involve something as small as wiping water poured and left by another. And it may involve you putting aside your urgent assignments to help someone who is in the dying minutes of something. Read more...

How Deep Is The Love Of God

How much of God’s love have you experienced? The love of God is awesome and deep more than your natural mind can imagine. The love of God is everything you need to be stable and successful in life. This post aims at making you desire more of God’s manifestation of His love in your life.
That He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man, that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height ---to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God – Ephesians 3:16-19 (NKJV).

The Essence Of God's Love

The love of God is beyond description, but one thing I know is that it is wonderful. It is the answer to all your challenges. The love of God covers multitude of sins (Proverbs 10:12). Also, it is the greatest of the great three (1 Corinthians 13:13), and it enables you to obey God (John 14:21). Furthermore, the love of God is the reason we are saved by Christ (John 3:16) and the reason why many of us are not consumed (Lamentation 3:22). The love of God passes knowledge and it is the fullness of God (Ephesians 3:19). The list can go on and on.
Paul prayed in Ephesians 3:16-19 that the Ephesians will gain root into love so as to have an understanding of the totality of the love of Christ. And you can't compare this with any human exploit, knowledge, or invention. Having the love of God fully in you and in manifestation is to have God Himself fully in you and in manifestation (John 14:23).

Love In the World

The word of God is God and God is love (John 1:1, 1 John 4:8). Love created and sustains the world (Hebrews 1:3, Hebrews 11:3). This is one reason why I believe the world will shut down when love goes. When the Holy Spirit who represents God on earth (2 Thessalonians 2:7) goes, the world will be unbearable to live in. So, we must endeavour to be part of the first flight (1 Thessalonians 4:17).

The True Definition Of The Love Of God

What is the love of God all about?  How will you know if you are actually walking in the love of the Lord? The expression of God’s love in you defines your level of Christianity, but you can only express what you understand. This article is to help you with your understanding of the meaning of the love of God.

Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away – 1 Corinthians 13:4-8 (NKJV)

The word ‘love’ is so commonly used that even some Christians can’t differentiate the love of God from other types of love. God’s love is the Agape love (unconditional love), totally different from human love (Philos or Eros). It is divine and so has its source from God.

Understanding the meaning of Agape love will help you assess your walk of love and ultimately your stand with God.  So, what is Love?

Love is God
God is love (1 John 4:8) and so love is God. If you know God, then you will love with the love of God. To know God is to walk in love. The closer your relationship with God, the more you’ll live a life of unconditional love.

When you study the scriptures, you will discover that every action of God is driven by love. For example, God created a woman for the man out of love. God watched Adam and saw how lonely he was, the animals and birds could not fill the emptiness around and in him. God saw that it was not good for man to be alone (Genesis 2:18) and so He made Eve for Adam.

God crowned His love for man by giving His only son for mankind, (John 3:16). Christ went to the cross because of His love for God the Father and mankind. On the cross, God forsook His only son because of His desire to restore to man all that he lost at the fall of man, fully driven by love. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son that whoever believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life.
