In the beginning, was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made - John 1:1-3 (NKJV).
And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth - John 1:14 (NKJV).
Jesus The Christ
Names signify what the bearer is empowered to do or achieve, it defines his or her purpose. And in Jesus Christ's case, He is to save us from our sins and their consequences. So, receiving Him as your Saviour is to enjoy salvation from sin and its consequences afflicting your life and destiny.
When Peter declared Jesus as the Christ, the Lord told him that this was a revelation from His Father who is in heaven (Matthew 16:17). So, there is more to just calling the Lord "Jesus Christ". Hence, you need a personal revelation of Jesus as Christ. For it is the beginning of access to divine interventions. As such you can pray for God to reveal Him as Christ to you, which He will as you study the word.
