The Temptation in the Garden of Eden

What is there to learn from the temptation that occurred in the Garden of Eden? Many people can only remember the account of the temptation in Genesis 3 for the fall of man and the punishments given to the Adam, Eve and the serpent. But there are other things to learn from there. This post shares some other things to pick from the temptation of Adam and Eve.

Then the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die. For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.” So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate – Genesis 3:4-7 (NKJV).

The scriptures are for reproof, correction, instructions and doctrine so that you may be complete and fully prepared for good works (2 Timothy 3:16-17), and this includes the scriptures on the temptation of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. This describes the fall of man from grace to grass, but there are also some important things to learn from the story.

Lessons from the temptation in the Garden of Eden

1. Unrevealed things are for your good.

Secret things are for God but the revealed ones are for us (Deuteronomy 29:29). It is not everything that you should know. There are certain things that should remain unknown. When God does not reveal certain things to you even after your persistent request for a revelation of the thing, know that it is for your good. God loves you and would always shield you from future troubles in any way He deems fit, which may include not giving you all the details of something. This is due to the fact that He is knows the end from the beginning and He knows you very well as your creator. Rely on God’s love and trust that He will never mismanage your life or destiny.

 God told Adam not to eat from a particular tree and did not give them the reason why they shouldn’t eat from it. But satan came and gave them the reason and they did exactly what God wanted to avoid for them – to desire to know the good and the evil. They were being shielded from evil, but disobedience exposed them to it, and that became the genesis of evil on earth. Read more...
