Why Go To Church

Why would you not want to go to church? Do you need encouragement before you can attend church services? There are one thousand and one reasons why people, including "Christians" don't go to church. But despite their reasons, God still desires that His people go to church and He has packaged great blessings for those who will obey Him. This post gives the benefits of going to church.

Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching - Hebrews 10:25 (NKJV)

But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, to an innumerable company of angels, to the general assembly and church of the firstborn who are registered in heaven, to God the Judge of all, to the spirits of just men made perfect, to Jesus the Mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling that speaks better things than that of Abel - Hebrews 12:22-24 (NKJV)

The house of God (church) is an appointed place to meet with God and the hosts of heaven (Hebrews 12:22-24). It is also a house of prayer, as Jesus reminded those who were buying and selling in the temple (Matthew 21:13), and prayer is a two-way communication with God. God meets with His people in the church. His name is designated on every living church and his eyes and heart are always there - 2 Chronicles 7:16.

The Scriptures in Hebrews 10:25 admonishes that you shouldn't forsake the assembling of Christians (which is done in churches), most especially as the day of the Lord draws near. And I tell you it is more crucial now than then, because the Day is nearer than that time!

Yes, you can read your bible and pray in your house, and watch men of God preach on the television or internet but it is never the same compared to when you are in the house of God, otherwise Paul wouldn't have stressed the need to go to church. You go to church not just to meet with your fellow Christians but also to meet with God the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit and other hosts of heaven. Read more...

Keys For Making a Difference in Your World

I do not want to die...until I have faithfully made the most of my talent and cultivated the seed that was placed in me until the last small twig has grown – Kathe Kollwitz. Making a difference is the desire of many people but the question is how to achieve it. You cannot give what you do not have. Building up yourself, increasing your knowledge and acting on it will increase your chances of making impact in your world. This article gives seven important keys you must possess to make impact around you.

7 Impactful Keys

1. Confidence
The ability to make a difference starts with you having confidence in yourself and your maker (God). When you don’t believe in yourself, nobody will believe in you. A wise man said,”Confidence is the backbone of conquerors”.  Look into God’s word (Bible), believe and declare what He says concerning you. God’s word is able to build you up - Acts 20:32. God did not make you a mediocre or a failure. You are made to succeed and make impact in your world.

2. Excellence
Making a difference requires that you be a person of excellence. It is like a golden apple in the midst of silver apples. It will make you outstanding and draw men to you. Therefore, build up yourself to excel in the area(s) that you desire to be impactful. Daniel excelled greatly as an administrator. His enemies could not find anything wrong in him except that he worshipped the Almighty God (Daniel 6: 1-5). His excellence commanded the attention of Kings (Daniel 1:19-21) and provoked promotion for him.  Read more...

The Power Of Reading Christian Books

How often do you read Christian books? The power of reading cannot be overemphasized and when you exercise that power in reading Christian stuff, your life gets better many times over than when you don't read them. Christian books are life-support system for a victorious Christian life. This post helps you to understanding why reading Christian literature is vital for a successful Christian life.

Bring the cloak that I left with Carpus at Troas when you come-and the books, especially the parchments - 2 Timothy 4:13 (NKJV)

and consider that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation-as also our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given to him, has written to you - 2 Peter 3:15 (NKJV).

When I was younger still in my parents' house, I noticed that my mum did the buying of the Christian books most of the time and my father did the reading of these books most of the time. My father handled anxiety far better than my mother; in fact she felt it was her duty to worry. When I became more matured in the Lord, having been reading Christian books, I concluded that if my mother read the books she was buying more, anxiety wouldn't have been a problem for her.

Christian literatures from proven authors are like explanatory manuals for the bible. God is no more writing scriptures to be added to the existing bible, but He is writing books now. Just like the scriptures never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit (2 Peter 1:21), so also these Christian books are written by holy men and women that were moved by the Holy Spirit.

Paul, the apostle both read and wrote books. His books were so important to him that the ones he forgot at Troas, he had to ask Timothy to bring for him - 2 Timothy 4:13. And Peter obviously read books written by Paul too as 2 Peter 3:15-16 implies.

The books of the New Testament after the four gospels are books that give deeper understanding of the gospel of Christ. The authors wrote according to the revelations they got from the Holy Spirit. Even so now, Christian believers write according to the revelations they get from the Holy Spirit and they give deeper understanding of the gospel of Christ too. Read more..

How To Access The Help Of The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is the best companion to have. He is the Helper Jesus promised His disciples that He would ask the Father to give them. He is your present help in time of need (Hebrews 4:16), but if you can’t access Him, you can’t access His help. This post tells you how to gain access to the Spirit of the Lord’s help.

If you love Me, keep My commandments. And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever—the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you – John 14:15-17 (NKJV)

Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit – John 3:5-6 (NKJV)

How to access the help of the Holy Spirit
  1. Be a child of God
The Spirit of God can only be received by the children of God. This is because the world neither sees nor knows Him – John 14:17. You need to be born of the Spirit of God;
  1. Be obedient
Keeping the commandments of Christ gives you access to the Holy Ghost. Jesus said if you love Him and keep His words, He would pray to the father and He would give you another Helper, the Holy Spirit – John 14:15-16. Being obedient to God attracts the help of the Spirit.
  1. Have a thirst for Him
Matthew 5:6 says that anyone who thirsts for righteousness will be filled and righteousness is impossible without the Holy Spirit (John 16:8, 10). Thirsting for righteousness is to thirst for the Spirit who alone can help you walk in righteousness. Read more...
