BIBLE STUDY – LUKE CHAPTER FOUR

Introduction

Verses 1-2

Christ, though God still needed to prepare for His ministry in fasting and prayer. And I’ve noticed that if you truly fast, you don’t feel hungry until you finish fasting. This was also the case with Christ Jesus; He became hungry when He had ended His fasting.

Also, while fasting, He was being tempted, but after the fast, a bigger temptation came. So, we must be careful to remain in the Spirit even after a spiritual exercise.

Verses 3-4

The flesh will always want you to prove who you are to people, which is not necessary. So, you must resist it, and live by the word, which is all in all. And let your life speak for you, for the word of God says that by their fruits you will know them.

Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them – Matthew 7:20 (KJV).

Verses 5-8

We’re not to worship or serve any other god but God Almighty. In this chapter, the enemy said the truth here; Adam gave him the authority over the kingdoms of the world. And the enemy is still using this to lure many people to worship him. However, the truth remains, as Christ said, we should worship no other god but God Almighty.

Verses 9-12

Here, the enemy used the Word of God to tempt Christ. This is still the tactics of the enemy! And the scripture says in 2 Timothy 2:15 that we should study the word of God to show ourselves approved of God rightly dividing the word of truth. This enables you to overcome the temptation to sin against the Lord. So, don’t tempt God and don’t use the word to justify your disobedience.

Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth – 2 Timothy 2:15 (KJV). Read more...

Bible Study - Luke Chapter Two

Introduction

This chapter gives an account of the birth of Jesus Christ, and when he was presented at the temple as a baby. Also, it records Christ's visit to Jerusalem when he was twelve years old.

There are certain points I want you to take note of. Please, do watch the video to listen to the reading of the chapter to understand better.

Points to note

1. Good news will always come first to those who are on the watch, both in prayers and in the word.

2. Christ brings peace and goodwill to men.

3. Mary kept the prophecy concerning the baby in her heart and pondered on it, while others    heard and just wondered. This resulted in her later believing that Jesus could do something concerning the finished wine at the wedding ceremony. And this was before He started His mission fully on earth.

Jesus said to her, “Woman, what does your concern have to do with Me? My hour has not yet come.” His mother said to the servants, “Whatever He says to you, do it - John 2:4-5 (NKJV).

4.The secret things or the new things of God are revealed to those who have time for God in word and in prayer. Read more...

Bible Study - Luke Chapter One

Introduction

For the next couple of weeks, we want to look at the book of Luke. Please, do leave your contributions or questions in the comment section. I look forward to learning from you. God bless you as we take this journey through the book of Luke.

Verses 1-5

According to Luke, this book is authentic. He got them from eyewitnesses and ministers of the word. And he had a perfect understanding of all things from the very beginning. Also, he was writing to a man who was most likely recently been told about Christ. So, Luke was writing so he would understand the certainty of what he heard.

Verses 6-17

Zacharias and Elizabeth kept serving God and were blameless in spite of the fact that they had no children. Surely, they had prayed for children but none came. Yet it never stopped their service unto God. And God answered them, and the baby came with God-ordained assignment. So, no matter how long it takes, God will surely answer. Therefore, just believe and the Lord will give you the best. Surely, it's worth waiting on God.

Verses 18-20

Zacharias doubted because he considered his flesh and not the word that came from God. So, we should always put God's word above our flesh or the facts around us.  Also, he was made dumb, probably, to stop him from canceling God's plans with words of unbelief. This is because we will get satisfied by the fruit of our lips, and we will have what we say. Read more...
