My Sister's Award

Esther Ngwuluka(first left), Nonhlanhla Mkhize, Kgaogelo Amanda Maswanganye, Sonia Woudberg and Pascaline Fonteh have been awarded the inaugural L’Oreal and Unesco Regional Fellowships for Women in Science in sub-Saharan Africa.
"The great one has dazed me ooooo! He said it, it came to pass. Please read the attached." That was the email my sister sent to me on the 1st of March 2010. My sister Esther, a pharmacist, is doing her PHD in South Africa. She had been sourcing for sponsorship but got no response from any. But God kept helping her from her salary and gifts. Now she is in her third year.

On the 1st of march, Esther got an email that stated that she won an award from L’Oréal and Unesco Regional Fellowships for Women in Science in sub-Saharan Africa.  She previously did not get any mail that acknowledged that her application was accepted, only to receive one that stated that she won an award! She was looking for scholarship much earlier but she got something bigger- an award which included the money she needed.

"Every other organizations that offer scholarships to students that I applied to did not respond except the one that will give me an award," Esther said humorously. Reflecting on this statement, I saw my Father at work. When it looked as if He was not answering the prayers, He was busy preparing the best for her. The inaugural L’Oréal and Unesco Regional Fellowships for Women in Science in sub-Saharan Africa were awarded to five outstanding young women, including Esther, at a ceremony in Johannesburg, South Africa, on Tuesday night, 30 March 2010. This fellowship developed as an extension of the International Fellowships. This award opens up more opportunities for her in the pursuit of her career in research works.

The great one dazed us truly. He is never late. I give Him all the praise!
